Red-hot Devils beat Canadiens in overtime

It was classic New Jersey checking hockey and it was good enough to earn the Devils two points against the Montreal Canadiens.

Zach Parise scored on a power play 31 seconds into overtime to give the Devils a hard-fought 2-1 NHL victory over the Canadiens on Saturday night.

Montreal dominated the first period and got the lead on a goal by rookie Matt D'Agostini, but the Devils outworked them the rest of the way and got the tying goal from Jamie Langenbrunner in the second frame.

Sunday was Kids' Day at Madison Square Garden and with the way the Rangers played, that could mean a whole new generation of boo-birds.
It was a crummy day to be a Ranger and an even worse day to be their equipment, which the Blueshirts spent all afternoon breaking and flinging in disgust in their 4-0 loss to the Florida Panthers. This was particularly so in the second period as the Panthers leaped all over a sleepy and sloppy Ranger bunch to score three times in quick succession. Even Henrik Lundqvist, the King himself, was yanked for the second time in three Garden games.

Stastny nets pair as Avs erupt

Games between the Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche are usually low-scoring, grind-it-out affairs.Paul Stastny had two goals and an assist, and the low-scoring Avalanche broke out for a 6-5 win over the Wild on Monday night.
